Merry Christmas!!

AHH! So it’s Christmas Eve!! ๐Ÿ™‚ And Vancouver is blessed with its first sunny day in, oh gee, 2 weeks or so? I am rather enjoying my time off from school, although this winter break is one of the shortest break EVER, with classes starting again on January 4th, 2010. Oh well. In the mean time, I’ll be taking lots of photos, sleeping in, reading, and crafting!

SO, YESTERDAY. I went out with some friends for brunch, then we went to the fabric store, then the mall for some last minute shopping. When I got home, I found a pretty big box waiting for me in the living room. A box from none other than Mr. Jose Villa! The Fujifilm Instax Mini that I won had arrived!! Funny, because I won that exactly a month ago! ๐Ÿ™‚ Much thanks to Fujifilm, and Jose for shipping it up to Canada!

Needless to say, I tore into that box real fast. (Well, as fast as one can be while neatly cutting the tape open on the box. I’m a neat-package/present-opener. None of this ripping business for me… ;D And this is what I found inside:

The 4 packs of film will give me 40 photos, and with much self restraint, I’ve only taken 4 in the last 24 hours. Haha. Gotta find out where to buy some more…

Here’s my new baby, unboxed. (‘scuse the mess in the background- I still haven’t gotten around to cleaning yet)

I went out last night with my parents to find some cool Christmas lights to photograph. And here are some shots I took…

Having fun with long exposures and light painting. How have I not done this before this year?!

Oh, and my mom threw out my star bokeh filter (results seen in this post), so I made a new one- this time, it’s a heart! ๐Ÿ™‚

If you want to make one, there are killer instructions here.

Weee, hearts.

Oh, new trick I tried out.

  1. Sit in the passenger seat of a car
  2. Set your exposure to 1 or 2 seconds and choose an appropriate aperture
  3. Place your camera on the dashboard (but hold on to it!)
  4. Release shutter, try and hold still
  5. Examine results

The results are pretty fun. And it’s pretty unpredictable as to what you’ll get. I tried this during the day too, on my friend’s camera. ๐Ÿ˜€

Hearts framing a house ๐Ÿ™‚

Then we found this pretty big Christmas tree in a plaza in Port Moody. It was suuuper cold outside…

Long exposure, and I zoomed out (or maybe it was in?) while the shutter was open.

And the last photo is my first ever attempt at HDR.

Today, I took a few more photos on my Instax- STILL AMAZING. I’m so in love with it. And now I’m gonna go find more film before I run out, haha.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!!
